My story starts with the incredibly resilient women in my family.

Women who worked hard, built businesses with grit, and showed me what it really takes to create something meaningful from the ground up.

My grandmother Mary worked long days as a waitress back in the 60's, at the Lord Nelson Hotel in Halifax. She saved every penny and became one of the first women in Nova Scotia to hold her own liquor license, running a Bed and Breakfast in Hubbards long before women were allowed to hold professional licenses of any kind. Her strength and ambition shaped everything I believed possible.

My mom carried that pioneering spirit forward with her own craft business. From the day I was born, she brought me to craft fairs across Nova Scotia and the Maritimes, showing me the value of community, creativity, and making things by hand.

Their legacy is the foundation of everything I do today. It taught me that creativity isn’t just something you’re born with, it’s something you can build a career and life around. 

From Kitchen Counter to Major Retail Shelves Across Atlantic Canada

In the uncertain days of 2020, I began making candles in my kitchen, at a time when the future felt unpredictable and I was searching for purpose. What started as a creative outlet quickly turned into something much bigger. A way to bring happiness into people’s homes while continuing my family tradition of craft and hospitality.

That spark turned into Burning Flame Candle Company. A place where I was free to explore my creativity and lead with intention. Each scent is inspired by meaningful moments and the comfort of home.
