Entrepreneurship runs in my blood, thanks to the women who came before me.

As a young woman in the 1960s, my grandmother worked as a waitress at the Lord Nelson Hotel downtown Halifax, saving every penny she earned with dreams of building a business of her own.

With bold ambition and an entrepreneurial spirit, she went on to run a bed and breakfast in Hubbards, Nova Scotia. She held her own liquor license at a time when very few women were independently operating licensed businesses. Later, she bought and sold real estate, always finding new opportunities and forging her own path. More than anything, she taught me that building something of your own is always possible.

My mom carried that entrepreneurial spirit forward through her own craft business. From the time I was a baby, she brought me along to craft fairs across Nova Scotia and the Maritimes, where I learned the value of community, creativity, and the pride that comes from making something with your own hands.

Their legacy is the foundation of everything I do. It taught me that creativity isn’t just something you’re born with, it’s something you can build a career and life around. 

From my kitchen counter, to major retail shelves across Atlantic Canada

In 2020, I began making candles in my kitchen, at a time when the future felt unpredictable and I was searching for purpose. What started as a creative outlet quickly turned into something much bigger. A continuation of my family’s tradition of craft and hospitality.
